Four years service with RAAF during WWII.  Instructor, Line Training School, S.A. 1953-1967, State Secretary, S. A. Branch, Amalgamated Postal Workers Union (APWU), encouraging union branch to erect its own building. Also served as Federal President. 1967, resigned union position due to ill health.  Significant role in 1968 transport strike. Became S.A. Manager, Industrial Relations Department, Postal Commission. ‘Stood firmly on the side of the rank and file’. Member ALP.
