The death occurred yesterday at his home in Victoria Street, Ashfield, of Mr William White of Gartrell White Ltd at the age of 62 years.

Born in Redfern he took over the control of the bakery business of his father in 1903. This firm was amalgamated with that of Mr Francis Gartrell in 1918 as Gartrell White Ltd. Mr William White was managing director of the company until his death. He was also a director of nine other companies and was chairman of the Master Bakers' Association for a record term.

During the last war he was a member of the Necessary Commodities Control Board.

He took a keen interest in the affairs of the Baptist Union of New South Wales and was twice president.

He is survived a widow, three sons (Messrs William, Ashley and Roy) all of whom are engaged in the bakery trade, and two daughters, Mrs Reginald White and Miss Dorothy White.

The funeral will leave the Stanmore Baptist Church after a service which will commence at 2:30pm today for the Independent section of the Rookwood Cemetery.
