John Christian (Jack) Beitz (1905–1967)

Since Tribune's last issue the trade union movement has lost an important and popular national figure through the sudden death in Sydney of Mr. Jack Beitz, general president of the Waterside Workers' Federation since 1949.
He had previously been a prominent unionist in Port Adelaide, having held official positions in the Port Adelaide branch of the Federation and having been a Federal Councillor of the Federation. He was president of the Port Adelaide Trades and Labor Council until it was merged with the Adelaide TLC.
Tribune's condolences are extended to his family and his Federation colleagues.
