John Bond (1857–1941)

Mr. John Bond, of Baynes Street, West End, whose body was found in the Brisbane River to-day was a resident of West End for more than 50 years. He was one of the pioneer of the Labour Movement in Queensland.
A French polisher by trade, he was associated with many of the big furnishing jobs throughout the State. At one time he unsuccessfully stood for parliamentary honours in the old South Brisbane constituency.
He was 84 years of age and had been in ill health for some time past.
He is survived by two daughters Mesdames George Young, Coorparoo; C. Hansen, and a son— Mr. F. C. Bond, South Burnett.
The funeral will take place on Thursday.
