Representatives of the Federal and State Labor Governments and Union Movement last Saturday attended the funeral of Mr Frank Burke, of the Printing Employees Union of Australia who collapsed and died at his home late on Thursday afternoon.

The late Mr. Burke was a representative on the Melbourne Trades Hall Council for over 40 years and had a distinguished record of service to the Labor and Trade Union Movements.

Mr. Burke was a former president and secretary of the Bookbinders' Union and played a prominent part in bringing about the amalgamation of that union with the PIEUA.

He was president of the Victorian Branch of the PIEUA for the two years immediately following the amalgamation and Federal President in 1930-31.

Mr. Burke represented the union at many interstate conferences.

Other positions occupied by Mr. Burke were:—Member of the Printers' Wages Board, member of the Printing Trades Advisory Panel, member of the Union's Board of Management and a Branch Executive since amalgamation.

Those who attended his funeral included:
— Senator J. M. Sheehan, Messrs. Cremean, MLA, G. Schellenberger (pres., THC), V. Stout (sec., THC), M. Jordan (assist, sec., THC), D. Lovegrove (ALP).

The PIEUA was represented by:—
Messrs. E. O. Boase (Fed. pres.), E. C. Magrath (Fed. sec.), D. N. Flockhart (Vic. pres.), J. S. Toohey (Vic. sec.), A. M. Leavold (Vic. asst. sec.).

Many other officials and members of the Victorian Branch of the union and a strong representation of trade union secretaries and other union officials were also in attendance.
