The late Mr. George Bye was 80 years of age, led a very active life, and enjoyed good health almost to the end. He worked on "Woodside" estate most of his life, took a keen in terest in stud stock, and made many trips to Melbourne with stud sheep for the late Mr. Basil Archer. He was a justice of the peace for many years, and a member of the Longford Council for six years.

Mr. Bye was twice married, and leaves a widow. His sons are Messrs. J. E., G. A., W. H., A. E., A. D., and N. Bye, and the daughters are Mrs. J. A. Spencer (Powranna), Mrs. T. Adams (Melbourne), Mrs. McKendrick (Elizabeth Town), Mrs. R. Scolyer (Bridgenorth), Mrs. C. Saltmarsh (Cressy), Mrs. Venn (Longford), Misses G. B. and S. Bye. Brothers are Messrs. James and Alfred Bye, and the sisters are Mesdames J. and T. Ferguson (Longford), Chadwick (Bracknell), and Sidebottom (Sydney).

The funeral took place on Saturday afternoon, and was attended by a large and representative gathering. The service in the Anglican Church and at the graveside was conducted by Rev. Z. A. Higgins, who eulogised the good qualities of the deceased. The hymn "Rock of Ages" was sung, Mrs. G. Thomas presiding at the organ. The carriers were Messrs. A. Archer, B. Lawrence, J. Lawrence, and E. Buter.
