Mrs Platt (1831–1918)

Old Mrs Platt, of Blakevillle did not long survive her husband as she passed away on Wednesday night aged 87 years. She was born in County Meath, Ireland, and came to Victoria in 1849, being one of the early settlers in this State. She had a wide circle of friends, and was held in high esteem by all who knew her. The funeral took place on Saturday at the Ballan new cemetery and was largely attended, the Rev. Father Murray officiating. The coffin-bearer's were Messrs. C., R., B., L., and J. Platt: (sons of deceasel), and H. Arnup, the pall being supported by Messrs M. Lorkin, M. Corcoran, J. Lay, H. George, J. Cowell, H. Hyatt, T. Walsh, A. Hales. T. Spratling, L. Lay, D. K. Fraser, I. R. Shankland, J. Kennedy, A. Lilburn, M. O'Hehir, James Thistlethwaite, Jos. Thistlethwaite, R. Kirby, F. Mehrens, A. Stephens, C. Macklin, J. V. Porter, John Egan, D. Wheelahan, C. Herrod, W. Guppy, Jas. Bence, W. Lewin, J. Whale, and W. Pattinson.
