David Glyndur (Dini) Madders (1896-1971) coal miner

Birth: 12 January 1896, Howard, Queensland. Son of John Madders, miner and unionist, and Mary Jane nee Evans. Brother of Tom and Robert. Death: 18 February 1971, Maryborough, Queensland.

  • Coalminer, Burrum, Queensland.
  • During 1930s, worked briefly at Howard, where he attempted unsuccessfully to establish a union, and at Bluff and Torbanlea;
  • held positions of local check inspector, scrutineer & committeeman in Burgowan branch of Miners' Federation;
  • supported Bill Orr as general president of Miners' Federation.
